Flight to Europe

Josh
Just arrived in Dubai after a long flight, it took forever to find were we needed to go the airport is so big it even has a train in it. Now just waiting to board the plane to Rome.

Our flight left Adelaide slightly later than expected, served a full tea after 10pm and we all had pillows, blankets and a small toiletries bag containing toothbrush, toothpaste and eye mask. At the start and end of the flight, the flight attendants handed out very warm face washers, to refresh yourselves with. It was a very bumpy flight, multiple times the cabin crew were told to take their seats due to turbulence and the set belt light came on. Josh got to sleep alright, Alicia struggled to fall asleep and Derrick and I dozed on and off all night.

When we came in to land in Dubai, 5:30am, it was still dark but could see lights. We went to touch down, the plane accelerated and we rose sharply, our first aborted landing attempt. It took 10 minutes to circle around and to try again, this time we had success, landed safely.

Dubai airport is HUGE. There are three terminals, with an underground train connecting them. Waiting in terminal C to go through our gate (there are 50 gates in terminal C). People from all over the world walking past, Africans, Indians, Asians, Middle Eastern, all in their traditional dress, even the men in tunic tops and turbans/headwear. There is a constant beeping of horns, as little golf cart/passenger vehicles go past, ferrying mostly older people from one gate to the next. They do not go slowly either, much faster than walking pace, so cannot stand in middle of walkway for fear of being run over.

  1. Did you enjoy the Dubai airport? I think that all that noise and colour is such fun. It makes you realise that you are not in Australia. It is a different world that you have travelled to. 💙💜💚❤️
